Day Camp Description
This camp is for young tinkeres, inventors and future engineers who have always wanted to build, invent or create a project but have not had access to the resources to do so. Participants may choose one or more projects from a list supplied by Newton's Attic, or they may come up with their own project they submit prior to camp for approval and a feasibility study. Throughout the week, students will have constant and immediate access to mentors and close supervision but will be responsible for setting their own schedule and progress pace. Campers will have access to all the shop tools, resources and mentors
throughout the regular camp day (excluding lunch time), and they may arrive and depart at a time of their choosing. Younger students will be released only to a parent or guardian based on prior arrangements. Each camper will be given up to $35 dollars of materials supplied by Newton's Attic, and any additional needed materials are the responsibility of the camper. These can either be purchased from Newton's Attic or brought by the participant. Campers are also allowed to have a parent or older mentor attend camp with them and assist in the project. Siblings of similar age or friends may team up and work on the same project, but each camper must purchase a camp.
One goal of this camp is to instill a sense of responsibility and ownership for project completion in participants. Each student will receive individualized attention from Newton's Attic mentors, but students will need to be self
managing and motivated. The responsibility for project completion is in the hands of the camper.
